Le décolletage,
a family story

Over five generations, Décolletage ELBE has built a family legacy of Swiss turning in Haute-Savoie. From Scionzier to Marnaz, from yesterday’s manual lathes to today’s CNC processes, we’ve passed on the same commitment to precision, reliability, and environmental responsibility.

The origins in Scionzier (1896)

The first steps of a craft in the Arve Valley

It all began in 1896 in Scionzier, in the heart of the Arve Valley, when Constant Béné founded Béné-Lathulle with his brother-in-law—a workshop dedicated to subcontracting for the Swiss watchmaking industry. The team carried out a wide range of mechanical work, from small-batch manufacturing to tooling repairs, serving industrial needs with practicality and care. Manual lathes and a few shop machines set the pace, with production focused on small runs, service, and reliability.

This first chapter shaped Décolletage ELBE’s DNA: attention to detail, high standards, and a strong family spirit. Skills were passed on, methods refined, and a reputation built on well-made parts delivered on time.

histoire du décolletage en Haute-Savoie

1946: the birth of Décolletage ELBE

Léon Béné: initials that became a name

In the aftermath of World War II, in 1946, Léon Béné created Le Décolletage ELBE—a name derived from the pronunciation of his initials. In a period of reconstruction, the company affirmed its focus on precision Swiss turning and the machining of metal components.

Close ties to the Arve Valley industrial ecosystem accelerated growth: tooling, organization, and inspection capabilities evolved to meet the expectations of increasingly demanding markets.

Modernization and opening to the world

From manual lathes to CNC and high-volume production

As global markets evolved, Décolletage ELBE reached a new technological milestone: moving from traditional stations to CNC lathes, integrating precision machining methods, and scaling up to high-volume production. Without losing the agility required for smaller quantities, the workshop invested in process capability, repeatability, and traceability.

The result: compliant, ready-to-assemble Swiss-turned parts for a wider range of sectors—connectors, gas, aerospace, and medical. Continuous improvement became second nature: every project is industrialized with care to balance cost, lead time, and quality.

The 5th generation takes over

A new site in Marnaz, built for today and tomorrow

Led by the 5th generation, the company left its historic Scionzier premises for a new, modern facility in Marnaz. This move reflects a long-term vision: a better-organized production floor, streamlined flows, bright workspaces, and an environment designed to support both performance and safety.

The site was designed with environmental considerations in mind: LED lighting, energy optimization, material sorting and recovery, and cleaner processes. This responsible approach reflects a core value of the company: produce better, with less impact.

Family spirit, industrial rigor

Transmission, quality, and local roots

From 1896 to today, one thread remains constant: the family spirit. At Décolletage ELBE, transmission goes beyond machines—it’s a way of working: listening, advising, industrializing with method, inspecting with rigor, and delivering with reliability.

This local anchoring, combined with international reach, makes Décolletage ELBE a trusted partner for your CNC machining projects—small and large runs alike—across a wide range of diameters and materials, with the same demand for precision and traceability.

Moving forward

Useful innovation and environmental commitment

True to its roots and firmly focused on the future, Décolletage ELBE continues to modernize: digitized production tracking, strengthened inspection, and eco-responsible practices integrated at every stage.

The goal is simple: guarantee, over the long term, high-quality Swiss-turned parts made in Haute-Savoie—within a facility that combines industrial performance with respect for the environment. A family story that continues, in support of your ambition
